At Seranoa Kennels, our goal is to craft confident, biddable, and reliable bird dogs who understand how to learn. That process takes time, patience, and consistency. Training techniques, and the pace at which training progresses, must be tailored to fit each individual dog’s needs. Dogs are at their best when they can learn new things in a logical sequence, and in a low-stress setting. Our guest string is limited to 16 dogs
Pointing Dog Training
Our pointing dog training program consists of whoa training, introduction to the e-collar, and yard work – in other words, helping dogs learn to back, stop to flush, and stand steady to wing and shot. Once these steps are complete, dogs are worked from horseback on wild birds. Rates are $800/month, and $650/month for younger dogs not yet ready for e-collar training.
Spring and Summer Programs
The Seranoa Kennels Spring Training camp runs each year from March 1 – May 15 here at our home-based facility; during this time we yard work young dogs, walk young pups, and run older dogs on huns and sharptails. Our Summer Training camp runs June 1 – September 15. The first six weeks of roading and yard breaking are done at our home kennel, followed by an extended period at our summer training grounds in northern Montana. Rates are $800/month, and $650/month for younger dogs not yet ready for e-collar training. Enrollment is limited and reservations are recommended.
Seranoa Kennels client dogs are welcome anytime for short- or long-term boarding at $20/day for short-term stays, or $400/month.
